Infusions of coffee or a like product are produced from a sealed packet of the product which has a radial collar or flange by which it is clamped against the lower end of a hollow openended body 7 by an annulus or ring 10. As shown, Fig. 1, the container comprises a body 1 stamped out, filled with ground coffee and covered by a cover 3 whose edges are folded round a flange formed on body 1. The body 1 and cover 3 are punched all over to provide openings 6 through which water passes to the coffee powder. These openings 6 are covered with a layer soluble in hot water, e.g. glucose, to protect the coffee powder. As shown, ring 10 is threaded and supports a packing ring 12 which engages the flange of the package. Water is poured into member 7 and passes through the coffee powder into a cup or the like. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the container is secured on the member by an elastic ring. Alternatively the lower end of a hollow member 23, Fig. 3, has an annular flange 24 to support the container and a second annular flange 26 to engage a securing ring 28 which has a lug, or radial elements leading to a central knob, by which it is removed.
