Abstract

831,819. Moulding parts of surgical instruments. EVERETT & CO. Ltd., S. & R. J. March 14, 1958 [March 27, 1957], No. 10039/57. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXII] A mount 2 for a hypodermic needle 3 is moulded from synthetic resin, e.g. polythene or nylon, in a two-part mould 1 with a core 4 to form a recess for the nozzle of the syringe, the tip of the core being fitted with a resilient sealing member 12 for closing the bore of the needle 3 to prevent the entry of moulded resin. The sealing member 12 is of rubbery material, e.g. silicone rubber, and is dove. tailed or screwed in the end of the core or, as shown, retained by an axial rod 13 controlled by a screw 14 threaded in the end of the core and tightened to increase the pressure of the member 12.
