Class 38 (1) A plug particularly for coaxial cables comprising a pin contact 2 and an outer contact 6, forming part of a housing 1, the cable core 19 being soldered in the pin (or secured by a radial grub screw, not shown) while the outer braid 18a is clamped between a female 22 having a tapered part 24 and a metal ring 25, the cable being clamped between two (or more) externally tapered clamps 26 having spigots 27 fitting into keyways 16 in a web 15 of a locking ring 11 to prevent rotation of the clamps as they are tightened by an internally tapered clamping member 14 which screws into ring 11. The inner surfaces of the clamps may be grooved or serrated. A screw ring on the housing 1 is provided for attachment of the plug to a complementary socket, and an insulating washer 21 lies in a recessi n the ferrule 22. The pin 2 may be replaced by a socket contact and a rubber sleeve 27a may be provided round the cable as shown. If the cable has only a single conductor and no outer braid, the ring 25 is omitted.
