Abstract

779,161. Catamenial appliances. V. G. (INVERNESS), Ltd. Aug. 15, 1955 [Aug. 19 1954, Nov. 23 1954, June 28, 1955], Nos. 24152/54, 33907/54 and 18638/55.Class 81(2), A support fort catamenial pads comprises a waterproof base sheet formed from a central strip flanked by loosely puckered side strips. One form has a tapering central: strip 10 to which side strips 13, 14 are attached at the edges 11, 12, and the inner edges of. these strips are initially curved, as it 16, so that, when attached, the strips are puckered to fit loosely around the thighs. The side strips become wider towards the rear to come below the buttocks'and then taper inwardly to form a back section which is attached to a waist band 36. The front edge is detachably secured to the waistband by tabs 40, 41 and the wide, rear part is drawn taut by adjustable bands 21 22 'extending around the thighs. Gauze pockets 50, 51 may be provided to enclose the ends of a pad and the latter may be secured, by press studs 52, 55 or short tabs. In a modified form, see Fig. 4 (not shown) the base sheet is attached directly to an elastic waist band
