Abstract

A non-adherent surgical dressing comprises a backing layer of absorbent material adhesively secured to a perforated body-contacting layer of smooth, flexible film. When the dressing is in position, exudates from a wound pass through the perforations in the film and are absorbed in the backing layer. The film is preferably polyethylene terephthalate but materials such as cellulose acetate or polyvinyl chloride may be used and it is also preferred to use cotton felt as the backing material.
