Abstract

An aluminium oxide layer is formed on the surface of an aluminium baking pan and the interior of the pan is coated with an organosiloxane resin on the oxide layer. The oxide layer may be formed by an anodizing process or by a chemical process, such as by treating with a solution of sodium carbonate and sodium chromate. The oxide layer may be dyed a dark colour, such as black, and may be sealed by immersion in boiling water. The organosiloxane resin may be applied by dipping in or spraying with a solution or emulsion of the resin, and the solvent removed by evaporation; or the oxide layer may be rubbed with an organosiloxane polymer, or exposed to the vapour of an organo silicon halide. The coated pan may be heated to further polymerize the resin. The organic radicals in the resin may be alkyl radicals such as methyl or vinyl radicals, or phenyl radicals.ALSO:An aluminium oxide layer is formed on the surface of an aluminium baking pan, and the interior of the pan is coated with an organosiloxane resin on the oxide layer. The oxide layer may be formed by treating with a solution of sodium carbonate and sodium chromate and may be dyed and sealed by immersion in hot water. The oxide layer may be dyed, e.g. black, and may be sealed by immersion in hot water. The resin may be applied as a solution or emulsion, or an organosiloxane polymer may be rubbed on, or the surface may be exposed to the vapours of an organo silicon halide.
