Abstract

686,999. Pipe joints. ROBINSON, R. W., and ROBINSON CLOCHE CO.. Ltd. Nov. 30, 1950 [Dec. 29, 1949], No. 33233/49. Class 99 (i). A pipe joint particularly for irrigating lines comprises spigot and socket members 1, 2 of which the spigot I is pressed against a packing ring 6 in the base of the socket 2 by two or more toggle levers 8, 9 pivoted on lugs 7 arranged uniformly around the spigot, the links 9 of the toggles engaging undercut lugs 11 on the socket. The pipes 15, 16 are secured as by welding in recessed bores 13, 14 of the coupling members which may have a projection 17 and co-operating notch 18 to ensure alignment of nozzles in the irrigating pipes. Alternatively the ends of the coupling members may have stepped hose receiving portions.
