Abstract

677,213. Soldering and brazing. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 27, 1950 [Dec. 7, 1949], No. 28970/50. Class 83 (iv). A method of forming a brazed titanium joint comprises carrying out the brazing operation in an atmosphere of a noble gas such as argon or helium. In examples, two titanium strips were lapped and furnace brazed in dry argon at a temperature of 950‹ C. using (a) copper, and (b) 15 per cent manganese-silver as brazing materials. High-frequency induction heating may be employed.
