[Class 81(ii)] A method of treating a wound comprises enclosing it in a shield and supplying the cavity with sterile or medicated gas under slight pressure. In the form described a domed shield 1, having a soft rubber gasket 3 around its rim, is held over the wound by a strap 4. Air from a supply pipe 14 is passed through a filter 10, on to which a germicidal liquid from a reservoir 11 is dropped, and passed to a connection 6 in the shield, from which it escapes under the gasket 3. In this embodiment, germicid'al or other liquid from a container 15 may also be admitted through a connection 5 and drawn off through a tube 7. In another form.in which the shield is made of transparent material its upper surface is shaped to form a magnifying lens to facilitate examination of the wound.
