626,354. Hinges. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Dec. 10, 1946, No. 36495. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1945. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group X] In an automobile window pivoted about a vertical axis (see Group X), the upper hinge comprises a deep cylindrical cup 23 secured to the frame 13 for the glass and a ball fitting in the cup and carried by a shaft 24 secured to the mounting frame 12, the cup and shaft being long enough to allow considerable free relative vertical movement between the ball and the cup to allow for manufacturing inaccuracies in both directions from a normal position. The ball may have a rubber cap or bushing. The lower hinge comprises a spring-loaded member 17 attached to the frame 13, friction member 18 secured to frame 12, and spacers 19.
