Abstract

589,416. Tension apparatus for fingers. MEYER, H. March 22, 1945, No. 7262. [Class 81 (ii)] Tension apparatus for broken fingers comprises a platform 2 having mounted thereon at least one extension rail composed of adjustable articulations 13, 14 and 15, the free end of the rail being provided with an adjustable pulley 25, over which passes a cord or cable 28 connected to the treated finger at 30 and to a tension spring 29 attached to the supporting means of the extension rail. The latter may comprise a member 8 attached to extension 4 of the end of the platform 2 by a spindle 7, and a pin 9 slidably and rotatably mounted in member 8 and attached at one end to articulation 13 by screw 12 and at the other to spring 29. Locking screw 11 clamps spindle 7, pin 9 and member 8. The articulations are connected by thin strips of metal 16 and 17 which can be adjusted in slots 22 and 23. Platform 2 may be covered with leather over padding, and the rest of the device made of a light metal alloy ; alternatively, the articulations may be made of plastic material.
