538,689. Sifting apparatus. A.C.E. MACHINERY, Ltd., and EVANS, P. N. March 21, 1940. No. 5293. [Class 117] The screeiiing element 1 is secured in the frame 2 by means of transverse resilient strips 4 which are bent by engagement with a central longitudinal bar 6 and clamp the edges of the element 1 'between their ends and side plates 7. The plates 7 hook under lugs or studs 11 carried by the frame 2 and preferably have projections 8 engaging perforations 9 on the screening element. Preferably the screening element has a solid border or edge 12 in which the perforations 9 are made.
