491,417. Safety-valves. COCKBURNS, Ltd., and GRANT, T. Dec. 16, 1937, No. 34828. [Class 135] The loading lever 1 of a safety valve 4 is pivoted on a knife-edge pivot 2 and acts upon the spindle 3 of the valve through a ball element 5 housed in a socket 6 in the end of the spindle or in the lever so that the spindle is not subjected to any lateral thrust. The spindle is guided to allow of both axial and rotary movements by a neck bush 9 and an outer guide ring 8. A screw 7 serves as an abutment for the ball 5.
