[Classes 96 and 140.] A soft, pliable, moisture- and grease-resisting laminated paper suitable for making wrappers and bags consists of two or more paper sheets adhered together by paraffin wax, which is confined to the inner adhering surfaces of the sheets, the outer surfaces of the laminated paper being free from wax. Two or more sheets of paper, for example, of the glazed type, are coated on one surface with paraffin wax, superposed and passed through rolls which may be embossed and are preferably heated to soften the wax without melting. Preferably one or more of the waxed sheets are left with unwaxed borders 3, 4, Fig. 3, which project at opposite sides of the finished paper so that, when used as a wrapper, the edge 3 of sheet 1 is lapped under and secured by adhesive to the overlapping edge 4 of sheet 2. Bags are made by folding the paper into tubular form with the inset edges 5, 6, Fig. 5, of sheets 1, 2 in abutment, the unwaxed borders 3, 4 overlapping the joint on the inside and outside of the tube respectively and secured by adhesive, the end of the tube being then folded over and similarly secured.
