Cards, shuffling.- Apparatus for shuffling playing cards comprises a receptacle 4 oscillated in a vertical direction by means of a bell crank lever 10 the arm 14 of which has at its end a roller 13 engaging a cam 11 secured on the shaft 12 which is intermittently driven through the main shaft 21, eccentric pin 23 on wheel 22, arms 18 and 20 connected by pin 19, pawl 17 and ratchet 16 secured to shaft 12. The plate 25 on which the cards are placed is oscillated through the levers 28, 27, arm 32 engaging rollers 30<1> on an arm 30 on a shaft 31 rotated from the main shaft 21 through gears 58, 59, Fig. 2, shaft 60 and gears 61, 62. Cards are removed from the plate 25 and conveyed to the rollers 35, 36, rotated by gears 22, 63, for delivery to the receptacle 14 by suction heads 33 oscillated through the lever system 56, 54 oscillating on shaft 55, 57, and 21<1> rotated by main shaft 21. The cards are removed from suction heads 33 by needles 37. The receptacle 4 has four pairs of slots which are each positioned in turn opposite the rollers 35, 36 according to the position of the cam 11, and into the slots enter blades 41 normally positioned therein by spring 42 for reception of the cards and which can be retracted to cause the cards to fall down in the shuffled state by pressing the button 48 which rotates the bell crank lever 47 and causes a pin 51 thereon to engage the spindle 50 and rotate blades 41. The main shaft 21 can be actuated manually or by an electromotor.
