Vices. - In a quick adjustment vice of the kind wherein the vice screw carried by the movable jaw member engages a half nut which is movably mounted in the stationary base and adapted to be moved out of engagement with the vice screw by means of a sleeve member freely mounted on the screw the sleeve member is freely rotatable in both directions to depress the half nut out of engagement with the screw. The half nut 9 is movable vertically between guides 10 on the base 11 and is held in engagement with the vice screw 3 carried by the movable jaw member 7 by a spring 12 mounted on a guide pin 13. The end collars 1 of the disengaging device are mounted on plain parts of the vice screw and are connected by a bar 2 adapted to engage the sides of the half nut, the front collar 1 having a forward extension passing through a slot 5 in the front wall 6 of the movable jaw member 7 and terminating in a handle or knob 4. Instead of the manipulating part being brought out through a slot 5 in the wall 6 below the vice screw it may be arranged to project through the wall above the screw.
