Reinforced-concrete beams and columns; joist floors; walls. -Building elements such as beams and posts into which nails may be driven and which may be cut and joined as in carpentry framework, are moulded from cement and sawdust or breeze concrete and reinforced externally by angle or other bars B, Fig. 1. The bars are secured to the plastic body by tongues, studs, or nails so that the whole contracts together. The elements may be precast or moulded in situ. In beams, the lower bars may form ledges F for ceiling slabs, and a concrete floor may be cast above the permanent ceiling slabs. Walls, Fig. 5, are formed by nailing inner and outer panels K, M to the posts and covering the joints by strips N to give a timbering effect. The panels or boards may consist of nailable fibrous cement and may be of storey height. The interior may be left hollow or may be filled.
