Stream-cutting machines.-In a machine for cutting, forming, and wrapping caramels of the type described in Specification 13382/09, [Class 94 (i), Packing &c.], cutting and forming mechanism as described in Specification 254,897 is employed. The material is fed into an intermittently rotating cutter box 3, Figs. 4 and 21, and is forced into contact with blades 10 by presser feet 13, 14, the latter of which comes into contact with one blade at a time to sever the cubes, an insert 14a of fibre, &c. making the contact. The presser feet make complete oscillations during the periods of rest of the cutter box. An ejector 35 forces a block from between two blades into a pocket in a packeting wheel 94. A wiping mechanism, Fig. 22, cleanses the blades 10 after the cutting operation. A pair of jaw members 24 are mounted on a reciprocating block 25 sliding in a guideway 26. The tails of the jaws are forced apart by a spring 28 so that on arrival at the enlarged part of the guide, the jaws are caused to close upon the blade and scrape it during the inward movement. On the return movement rollers 30 act upon the tails to open the jaws.
