The parent/owner will possess the receiver unit which will be housed in a bracelet worn around the wrist. The reason we have chose a bracelet for the receiver unit is because it is worn close to the skin and easily accessible.
The receiver unit will be waterproof so it can be worn in all conditions and still function effectively and you can be worry free about it getting wet, whether it is whilst washing up, having a bath or swimming on holiday.
The wrist band will be a tough elasticised rubber (a rubber that is allergy free for people with skin conditions) and come in small, medium and large to fit snug to all different wrist sizes.
The bands will be styled in different ways to appeal for different peoples needs for example a male will want a different looking band to that of a female who may want a few diamantes in there's or a business person may want something that would not look out of place if they went to an important meeting.
The receiver will contain a high pitched alarm and a vibrating motor so the product will be just as effective for people that may have a disability such as deafness or blindness. These functions can be changed to users needs, option 1) vibrate 2) alarm 3) vibrate and alarm.
The receiver unit will have a navigator button with three small lights. If you hold down the button all the lights will pulsate, an ascending alarm will sound and it will vibrate to indicate the unit is switched on.
Once turned on if you press the button once one light will flash and the wrist band will vibrate momentarily to indicate that the vibrate function is activated. Press the button twice and two lights will flash and the wrist band will let out a short high pitched alarm along with two short vibrates to indicate that the alarm has been activated. Press the button three times and three lights will flash, the wrist band will vibrate with three short bursts and let out a short alarm burst to indicate the vibrate and alarm function has been activated. If you hold down the button again all the lights will pulsate, a descending alarm will sound and it will vibrate slightly to indicate the unit is off. If the unit does alarm then you would hold down the button to switch the unit off and hold down the button once again to switch it back on, this would reset the unit.
The receiver will contain a small replaceable battery which can be accessed via a small hatch located on the underside of the wrist band with a water tight seal to prevent water seeping into the unit.
Please see diagrams The second part to this is a transmitter that will be worn by the child or attached to a belonging.
It is in principle the same device but disguised in a variety of different ways. For girls and boys it will be built into hair bobbles and badges. There will be one built into a key ring so that it can be attached to a set of keys. Also there will be one built into a small high adhesive sticker so that it can be stuck to a wallet, purse, camera, laptop, or whatever belonging you desire.
The bobbles and badges will be housed within a plastic waterproof casing. The reason for this is so the child can wear the transmitter even if they may come into contact with water, for example could be attached to swimming costume on holiday.
The Badges and bobbles will have a variety of different designs on them. Please see list below.
Favourite football team Motorsport team logo Walt Disney characters CBBC Characters (In the Night garden, Zing Zillas) Hanna Montanna Teddies Animals Basketball teams Baseball teams Other sport teams (We would approach the above and sell them the transmitter to sell in there club shops or get there permission to use their logo'slcharacters on the product to sell in shops) The designs for the stickers and key rings will be basic but modern.
Please see Diagrams The transmitter unit will have a small battery inside it so that it can be turned on or off depending on whether or not you want it to be detected by the receiver unit (wrist band).
The transmitter will vibrate for a short burst to let you no it is switched on.
The transmitter will not be rechargeable due to the size.
You will be able to link many transmitters to the receiver and this will be done by coding the two together via a chip. For example you could have a bobble in your daughter's hair, a key ring on your car keys and a sticker in your wallet.
The transmitter unit will not sound an alarm the reason being is because if someone abducted a child they would rip the device from the child and the same goes for if someone stole an item from you when out and about they would remove the transmitter.
Problem The present invention relates generally to devices used to prevent the removal/loss of children and personal belongings from the parent or owner while out of the house.
Whether it be a family day out at the zoo or a business person on a train with there laptop the DLI (don't lose it)device will prevent children going missing and valuables being stolen. More specifically, the invention relates to an electrical receiver unit wrist band being worn by the parent/owner. A small transmitter unit contained within a bobble/badge being worn by the child and with stickers! key rings also containing the transmitter being attached to you valuables.
It is the greatest fear of a parent or guardian to lose a child. Even a day out which should be a fun time at such places as theme parks, going to the beach, swimming or any other place where there are large crowds can become stressful due to the constant fear of losing visual of there child or even worse lost or kidnapped.
All too often we hear in the press about children going missing abducted from families or being involved in fatal accidents because the parent has lost visual of there child for a short moment.
It is important to remember that young children may lack the maturity to distinguish between familiar and strange adults-It may be very easy to lure an unsuspecting child away from a group of family or friends in a busy place with large crowds, such as a shopping centre or theme park while some children may also walk off on their own. Some holiday resorts and large shopping centres do provide a child care facility but most parents will not leave there child in these as they don't feel it will provide adequate security for their child.
It is known in hospitals to place electronic tags to the ankles of babies to prevent them from being removed from a secur& area. However in larger places such as crowded beaches, theme parks, shopping centres etc a kidnapper could easily take the child somewhere and change there appearance before leaving with the child.
As if having to worry about your child's where abouts was not enough you also have the added strain of valuables being lost or stolen. This even applies to people without children. On a daily basis people do misplace or have items stolen from them for example sets of keys, wallets, purses, cameras, laptops, iPod's or anything else of considerable value whether it be sentimental value or monetary.
Theft is one of the largest crimes world wide and holiday makers are normally the biggest victims of this (one in six people fall victim to theft) due to all of the excitement making them careless. Another key factor as to why this is is because they are unfamiliar with the areas they are visiting and the knowledge of where to go and where to avoid.
The Don't lose it' device of the present invention overcomes these problems described above and offers many advantages that are currently not available on the market.
What it does The parent/owner has the receiver (wristband) and these are linked to whichever transmitters (bobbles, stickers, badges or key ring) that are switched on and coded (linked) to your receiver when you turn it on. Should your child walk away from you or you walk away from a belonging with a transmitter fitted by a distance of 5 meters then the signal between the two devices will become weaker causing it to activate the alarm on your receiver. The further away the two units become separated the more rapid the alarm will beep and the vibrate will pulse faster. Should you start to walk back in the direction of the lost item/child the alarm will begin to slow again almost like a more futuristic version of the child hood game hot or cold.
