Joints with longitudinal pressure and with yielding outer part compressed; sleeve joints.- A connector for joining the ends of two flexible pipes comprises an outer member 1, 2, the inner surface of which is of double truncated conical form, and two inner members 6, 7 of truncated conical form spaced apart from the outer member to receive the ends of the pipes, the said inner members being capable of being grasped and moved longitudinally of the outer member to clamp the pipes in position. The inner members are preferably telescopically connected, and they may be secured together by a pin-and-slot connection 8, 9 when in their closed position so that the pipes may be easily removed. When used for connecting one end of an elastic pipe to a rigid pipe, the rigid pipe is of conical shape to form the outer member or is provided with a separate outer member which is connected thereto, a similarly formed inner member being provided within said outer member.
