Abstract

An adjustable putter head comprises a putter head 14 with a metal bar 1 attached to the rear of the head. A plurality of weights 2-7 in the form of discs are threaded onto the bar and held in place by screws 8-13. The distribution of weight may be altered by moving the discs along the bar.

Description

The H' Putter.

This invention describes a conventional looking putter that helps golfers to hit a golf ball on their chosen line.

People hold a putter using various grips, normally with two hands and by means of hand and eye co-ordination strike the ball on a certain path. The grip often causes the putter head to open, pushing the ball to the right or closes, pushing the ball to the left. The frustrating fact is that a player can keep striking the ball, putt after putt just missing the hole on the left or on another day just missing to the right.

My invention uses a series of weighted metal discs running along a metal bar at the back of the putter head which when separated equally give negative bias. However following practice and ascertaining which side is being favoured that day, by sliding the discs one by one to the opposite side, compensates by making the heel or toe of the putter heavier helping to keep the putter head square to the line. The metal bar is held in place at the back of the putter head by means of drilled holes.

Putters for a number of years have had weights built in at the heel and toe to counteract the push or pull effect but they are not movable and therefore defeat the objective.

Putting is an integral part of the competitive game of golf which is governed by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St And rews who lay down a set of guidelines which all clubs have to conform to.

They do not allow parts of a club to be altered during the game.

Therefore the six metal discs would be held in plce individually by means of an allei rew tightened by an allei Iy against a flat edge on the metal bar. Once the player decided the position of the discs and tightened them he could not then alter them for the duration of that game.

This invention is suitable for both right and left handed players.

CLAIMS.

1. A putter with a series of weighted discs that can be positioned along a metal bar fixed to the rear of the putter head.

2. The ciscs according to claim I are held in place by means of an allen screw.

3. The aIIenrews according to claim I are tightened against a flat edge on the metal bar.
