Abstract

234,305. Bovey, J. H. July 1, 1924. Screw propellers ; driving-arrangements for screw propellers. - Two oppositely rotated propellers on the same axis are each formed with two blades and each blade comprises a front portion of continuous helical form to the rear edge of which is pivotally attached a flat fin. The forward screw portions a', b' of propellers a, b have hinges l at the rear edges for carrying fins g which take up neutral positions in the wash from the screw portion. The propellers a, b, are attached to solid and hollow shafts o, r respectively which carry pinions c, d driven in common and oppositely by the pinion i on the transmission shaft m.
