SPECIFICATIONGameThe present invention concerns equipment for playing a game.
The game variously known as bingo, lotto, housey-housey, tombola is well known and involves the player in the purchase of a card or the like bearing a selection of numbers between 1 and 90 inclusive. The organiser of the game selects numbers at random by any suitable means, the winner of a game being the player from all the anticipants who first covers on his card either all the numbers or, for example, the numbers of one line of the card.
Normally this results in one winner of the game, although depending on the number of the participants, etc. theremay be more than one winner. As a result interest in the game diminishes for those players who clearly have little chance of winning as a result of the numbers selected. It is an object of the present invention to obviate or mitigate this advantage arranging for additional winners in association with a bingo game.
According to the present invention there is provided for use in association with a bingo game a series of tickets or the like each uniquely numbered and bearing a number corresponding to the numbers used in the bingo games whereby an additional winner may be provided from the bingo game by stipulation prior to the commencement of the game that the additional winner will be the holder of a number corresponding to a number selected at a predetermined point in the game.
Preferably the selected number is the last number of the game.
Preferably each ticket of the set is so designed that it is identifiable with the remaining tickets of the set, for example they are all the same colour and/or all bear the same reference letter.
Means may be provided on the tickets to ensure that the ticket belongs to the set for the particular game being played; for example it may bear an identification number or other appropriate mark.
Several tickets, each for a separate game, may be provided in batch form, for example as a set of tearoff strips, the set being purchased prior to the start of a bingo session including several games.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the rules of the game.
This game is designed to give an additional winner or winners from a game of housey-housey, tombola, lotto, etc. commonly known as bingo.
Prior tun the commencement of the game or house participants obtain one or more tickets from a set of ninety tickets, each ticket bearing a unique number between 1 and 90 inclusive, i.e. corresponding to the numbers used in the bingo game. When the bingo game ends in the normal way, the number which has just been called and which has resulted in the game ending is the winning number forthis additional game and the holder of the appropriately numbered ticket wins a prize.
If it is desired to organise more than one game then two or more different sets of ninety tickets are distributed prior to the start of the game. The sets may be distinguished by colour and/or may carry different letters thereon. For security purposes each ticket in a set may be printed with an identifying mark, for example a code number. The tickets may also be overprinted with the name of the organisation running the bingo game.
Before a game starts a participant may purchase a batch of tickets, one for each of a series of games to be played during a particular session. Conveniently the batch is provided in tea r-off strip form and the numbers on each strip may be the same or different.
Each ticket of the batch is distinguished from the others such that it can be utilised in the appropriate game, for example they are marked "First Game", "Second Game", etc.
