Lift valves; actuating valves.-A valve adapted to be closed by fluid pressure, but which may also be closed by a handle in the event of the water pressure being insufficient, consists of a tubular member D provided with a valve i, which is raised by a screwed sleeve E engaging a shoulder h on the member D. A pin m prevents rotation of the valve. A nut F on the tube D allows the valve to be pressed downwards by the sleeve E.
