Abstract

1532552 Laminates MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL CO Inc 28 Jan 1976 [30 Jan 1975 17 Feb 1975] 3292/76 Heading B5N A laminating process comprises uniformly applying to each one of a plurality of layers of fibrous reinforcing material at least one surface of a powdery thermosetting resin composition, the resin having a melting point of from 40 to 170‹ C. and a gelation time at 170‹ C. of not more than 60 minutes, which, when heated, temporarily becomes flowable and then cures; and simultaneously or successively melt-adhering the resin composition to the material to form a semi-cured resin melt-adhered base material, and consolidating a plurality thereof under heat and pressure. In a modification of the process a resin melt-adhered base material made by impregnating a reinforcing material with a thermosetting resin solution, drying and semi-curing the resin is superimposed on at least one of the layers. A metal foil may be applied as an outer layer. Specified reinforcing materials are paper and a woven or non-woven fabric of glass, natural or synthetic fibres. The resin may be an epoxy, polyester, phenolic, melamine, polyimide, silicone, cyanate, diallyl phthalate or isocyanate resin or a mixture thereof.
