1500497 Photographic silver halide multilayer material KODAK Ltd 3 July 1975 [9 July 1974] 30424/74 Heading G2C A photographic silver halide colour material comprises a support bearing at least one bluesensitive silver halide emulsion layer, at least two green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers having different speeds and at least two red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers having different speeds wherein the positions of the layers are such that, in use, the exposing light strikes the faster green-and red-sensitive emulsion layers before passing to the slower green- and red-sensitive layers and wherein the faster red-sensitive emulsion layer is the next adjacent emulsion layer to the slower greensensitive emulsion layer. In the examples the emulsion layers contain combinations of colour couplers, and the couplers may be colourless or coloured or in Examples 1 and 4 may be development inhibitor releasing (DIR) couplers. The exposing light may strike the blue-sensitive emulsion layer(s) and then pass through a blue-absorbing filter layer before striking any of the green- or red-sensitive emulsion layers. The slower green- and red-sensitive emulsion layers may be replaced by two or more sub-units each comprising a green- and red-sensitive emulsion layer and each comprising emulsions of progressively slower speed, the sub-units being arranged so that the exposing light strikes the faster sub-units (s) first. The difference in speed between the faster and slower green- and red-sensitive emulsion layers or each pair of such layers may be 0.2-1 log E. Interlayers may be present between the red- and greensensitive layers to reduce migration of oxidized developer during processing.
