Abstract

1487116 Transfer XEROX CORP 9 May 1975 [11 June 1974] 19574/75 Heading B6C In an electrostatographic copier a transfer member roller core is divided along its axis into electrically discrete cylindrical segments and covered with an electrically relaxable elastomer 21 with an outer coating of a leaky insulator 20. The relaxable layer 21 takes a selected time to transmit a charge. A bias circuit provides discrete electrical currents via conductors 62, 64, 74 whereby the central segment 22 is connected to a constant current (variable voltage) and end segments 22A, 22B are slaved to the voltage level on the central segment 22 to prevent end leakage from affecting the constant current. Insulator rings 71, 72 separate the segments.
