1475994 Plant growth medium FISONS Ltd 25 July 1974 [31 July 1973] 36324/73 Heading C1B A plant growth medium comprises a layer 1 of foamed resin incorporating a plant nutrient 2 and/or a material which can be penetrated by plant roots, a layer of seeds 4, and a layer of binder 5. A layer of fertiliser and/or peat 3 may be provided between the resin and the seeds. The resin may be polyurethane and may have an open pored structure and the incorporated material may be peat and may be concentrated at the top of the resin layer. The binder may comprise a soil stabiliser and/or a urea/ aldehyde condensate and may impregnate the growth medium. Means, e.g. a surface skin to the resin, may be provided to render the medium more rigid, and plant root impervious basal layer may be provided. Where a resin with a surface skin has been used it may be cut before application of seeds to expose an open pored surface.
