Abstract

1450037 Spray-producers JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 2 Nov 1973 [10 Aug 1972] 37308/72 Addition to 1275255 Heading B2F [Also in Division F4] A liquid atomising, device, of the type disclosed in a Specification 1275255, and particularly for use in the burners of gas turbine engines, comprises a tubular body in the form of a ring 29 connected to the outer periphery of and extending substantially over the length of the swirler 25, which is surrounded by a further swirler 26. Ring 29 carries a piston ring 31 in an annular groove on its surface, said ring 31 engaging on the surface of a ring 30 connected to the inside of the further swirler so as to permit some radial and axial movement between said swirlers. The nozzle 23 comprises a plurality of spray outlets 24 and is carried on a fuel supply pipe 22, said nozzles being generally concentric with said swirlers. Alternatively, flanges (50), (52) Fig. 4, (not shown), defining an annular groove on the ring on the outer periphery of the inner swirler, interengage with a flange (51) on the ring inside the further swirler. In a further embodiment, the nozzle (46) Fig. 6, (not shown) is adjustably located within an elongated hole (71) Fig. 8, (not shown), in a ring (70) on the inside of the inner swirler, the nozzle having a flange (72) Fig. 6, which bears against ring (70).
