Abstract

1393771 Two part couplings TELEDYNE Inc 31 July 1972 [6 Oct 1971] 35751/71 Heading H2E A connector 10, Figs. 1 and 3, for making electrical connection to a plurality of conductive elements 40 on a printed circuit board 36, is adapted to connect to a second printed circuit board 38. Contact members 26 are of resilient metal, e.g. gold plated beryllium copper, and each comprise contact portions 28, and 30 situated at the ends of central portion 32 which passes through and is embedded in, during the moulding process of, the core portion 34 of the unitary body 12. Each contact portion 28, 30 is bent in such a manner that it is substantially - within channel 20, 24 respectively formed at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the body 12, such that, when secured to a P.C.B. 36, 38, which is supported on contact surface 14, 16, each contact surface 28, 30 is resiliently maintained in contact against its respective contact strip 40, 42 on the P.C.B. In a further embodiment, Fig. 8, the contact member 76 is embedded diagonally in the core portion of the unitary body 60 so that contact portions 78, 80 are situated in channels 70, 74 perpendicular to each other, and thereby form a 90 degree P.C.B. connector.
