Abstract

1384550 Test probes INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd 28 Nov 1972 [1 Dec 1971] 55735/71 Heading H2E An apparatus for use in the electrical testing of conductive tracks, particularly of multi-layer printed circuit boards, has a fixed test head 19, from which project spring-loaded contact pins 23, each coupled by a conductor 26 to a connector 21. A carriage 11 on rails 13 brings the circuit under test, carried by base member 28, into location under the test head 19, and ram 14 of a pneumatic actuator 16 then forces the base member up to bring circuit elements 12 into contact with pins 23, guided by dowels 29 entering holes 27. A control box 15 sets the operating sequence, subject to interlock conditions, which may ensure that a programme of electrical tests has been completed before the base member is released, and it may control another pneumatic actuator for the traverse of carriage 11. Actuators may alternatively be of hydraulic or other kinds.
