Abstract

1288702 Electro-photography &c INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 19 April 1971 [16 March 1970] 21435/71 Heading G2H [Also in Division B6] A charge pattern is produced on the surface of a photo-conductive layer or an insulative coating thereon, the photo-conductive layer being in contact with a heat-sensitive recording layer, whereafter the photo-conductive layer is subjected to radio frequency heating, heat images thereby being formed in the photo-conductive and recording layers, the latter image being converted into a visible or magnetic image. The charge image may be formed by uniform charging followed by imagewise radiation exposure or by imagewise charging. Exposure may be by projection from an original or by scanning with a laser beam or an incoherent intensity-modulated light beam. The heat-sensitive recording layer may be of paper, cholesteric liquid crystals which change colour when heated, or magnetic film. Fig. 2 shows the successive steps of charging 8, exposure 10, and heating 12 of a photo-conductive layer 6 on a heat-sensitive paper 14 in a camera 16.
