1277756 Closing sealing pots BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 2 July 1970 [2 July 1969] 33475/69 Headings B3A and B3Q A tool for flanging the edge of a sealing pot 15, Fig. 3, over a closure disc comprises a body 11 for supporting the pot and having a recess for a cable 16 secured to the pot, and a flanging die 27. The die is mounted on a bush 25 used for pushing the closure disc into the pot before flanging. A carrier 23 for the bush is moved by a dieactuating screw 19 and guided by limbs 13 engaging slots in the carrier. The die has bevelled rear edges (not shown) so that, after it has been rotated slightly, it may be retracted into a groove (23), Fig. 4 (not shown), extending across the forward face of the carrier 23, thus projecting the bush 25 forwardly of the die for a pushing operation. In a simpler form, Fig. 1 (not shown), the pot support and die are carried by pivoted jaws and the tool has no presser. In another construction, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), the pot-support and die are in the form of opposed plates which are operated by screws. A presser-bush (37) may be inserted in the dieaperture (35). If the narrow end of the bush is inserted through the die-aperture in the direction of the pot, it can be used to urge into place wedges of a wedge-type pot. In another pivoted-jaw form, Fig. 8, the presser bush 46 is screw-threaded for retraction into the die-aperture 48 and a separate spigot 51 is provided for the wedges of a wedge-type pot.
