An arrangement for weighing aircraft, pallets, or other cargo, comprises a platform 11 supported at each corner by a load cell 16 through a ball- and-socket mounting 15, 20, the load cell being disposed on a broad-boxed foot assembly 17, and being vertically adjustable in relation thereto to level the platform. Vertical separation of the ball-and-socket is prevented by a flange 27 on the load cell which overlies a member 32 secured to the platform, the two adjacent non-touching surfaces 28, 33 both having as centre of curvature the centre of the ball 15. A flexible metal or rubber boot 30 encloses each load cell. A pin 22 forming a loose fit in a hole 24 provides limited rotational movement of the cell about axis 16 16'. Vertical adjustment of the cell is effected by rotation of the member 35. Each load cell, Fig.4 (not shown) is of the shear responsive type and comprises a solid body 50 having vertical holes 51 in which electrical strain gauges 52 are disposed, these being inter-connected in bridge array and connected by cable 25 to conventional indicating a recording instruments.
