Flexible service conductors 36, 38, 40, 42 extending between a fixed point and a reciprocating mechanism 10 are secured together by weaving shoes 44 spaced along the conductors to maintain the conductors in spaced relation relative to a horizontal bed 28. The shoes 44 each have a vertical and horizontal arm having low friction surfaces, the horizontal arm being slidable on the bed 28 and the vertical arm being restrained by one or more side guides 34 on the bed to maintain a U-shape of the conductors. The outer conductor 36 is positively clamped to the shoes to provide shoe motivation whereas the other conductors are lightly clamped to the shoes to allow relative movement therebetween. The mechanism 10 comprises a carriage driven by powered pinions 16 along toothed rails 18 between positions at which a workpiece 12 is lifted and released by suction means 22 on the carriage.
