A dishwashing apparatus comprises a cabinet 15 divided by a vertical partition 22 into a washing chamber 30 and a chamber 32 containing a motor 65 for driving a pump 68, 70 for circulating washing liquid through a spraying device 75 Fig. 5 (not shown), and for drawing washing liquid from the cabinet, the pump 68, 70 being mounted beneath an opening in the bottom wall 25 of the cabinet which slopes downwardly towards the motor chamber 32 and is spaced from the lower edge of the partition 22 to permit liquid flow to the pump from the washing chamber 30. A filter 90 may entend across the gap between the partition 22 and the bottom wall 25, a supply of water is heated by electric resistors 60 in a tank 45 disposed beneath the washing chamber and is forced into the latter, when heated to desired temperature, by fresh water introduced through a solenoid valve into the tank 45. The electrical control system for the apparatus is described in detail. A rinsing agent dispenser 95 and a sanitizing agent-dispenser 100 Fig.6 (not shown), are mounted on the partition 22.
