Abstract

1,219,878. Scaling device for dishwashing machines. INDUSTRIE A ZANUSSI S.p.A. 14 May, 1969 [16 May, 1968], No. 24715/69. Heading F2N. [Also in Division A4] A dishwashing machine of the kind comprising a rotatable dish-carrying basket 12 above and beneath which a first set of sprinklers 13, fed by the water mains 14, 15, is arranged, and a tub 19 for collecting the water dispensed by the sprinklers 13 and equipped with a centrifugal pump 21 to feed the water collected in the tub 19 to a second set of similarly arranged sprinklers 23 is characterized in that it includes a connection 24 between a feeding duet 18 for the sprinklers 13 and the delivery side of the pump 21, and a controllable cut-off valve 25 mounted in the connection. The water mains feed includes a cock 14, a magnetic valve 16 controlled by the machine timer, a softener 17, and the supply duct 18. The valve 25 is closed for a normal washing cycle. When it is desired to descale the machine a scaling solution is introduced into the tub 19 and the valve 25 is opened. The scaling solution may alternatively, or additionally, be introduced into the softener 17.
