Abstract

1,164,251. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. AEROSOL INVENTIONS & DEVELOPMENT S.A. March 11, 1968 [April 18, 1967], No .11666/68. Heading F1R. A discharge valve for a pressurized dispensing container is adapted for venting the container during refilling, and comprises a valve stem 8 with an axial bore 11 and a lateral orifice 10 which is closed by a sealing disc 13 when the valve stem is in its raised position, and opened in its depressed position shown, the valve stem being movable to a shallow depressed position for discharging the container contents or to the deep depressed position shown, in which a groove 17 in the valve stem connects vent passages 20 formed between the valve cup 4 and housing 7 to atmosphere. Vent passages 20 are formed by offset portions 19 of the valve cup 4. A sealing disc 18 prevents connection of vent passages 20 to atmosphere when the valve stem is in its shallow depressed position. In the raised position of valve stem 8, Fig. 1 (not shown), disc 13 is pressed into contact with disc 18 by stem shoulder 9 under the action of the valve spring, which seats against shoulder 9 and ribs formed in the valve housing. An actuating button, Fig.2 (not shown), is a press-fit on valve stem 8, and prevents movement of the valve stem to its deep depressed position. The container 2 may be refilled by another pressurized container 21.
