Abstract

1,148,693. Vehicle rear-view exterior mirrors. WINGARD Ltd. 8 March, 1968 [21 March, 1967], No. 13161/76. Heading B7J. A vehicle rear-view exterior mirror assembly comprises a stem 10 having a base 11 adapted to be fitted to the vehicle body, said stem being formed with a horizontal upper face with radial serration which mates with corresponding serrations on face 15 of a turret head (14), of quadrant section, said assembly also having a mirror head which is connected to the stem by a bolt 22 which passes through the head 14, thereby also connecting the head 14 to the stem. The bolt passes through an apertured boss 17 formed in the mirror casing 18 and has a partspherical head which allows rocking adjustment of the mirror head. The bolt is retained by a sleeved nut 24 retained in a bore 25 of the stem. The radial serrations allow adjustment of the mirror head about a vertical axis. The casing 18 may be pressed or cast in metal or moulded from plastics.
