Abstract

1,100,749. Helmets. S. G. BROWN Ltd. and V. H. A. DIEDERICHS. 26 Aug., 1966 [2 Dec., 1965], No. 51255/65. Heading A3V. [Also in Division H4] A crash helmet 11 having a curtain 13 is provided with a telephone receiver attachment mounted on the curtain. The attachment comprises a flexible or resilient rubber tube 17 containing two transducers (only one, 15, being shown) arranged to be equally spaced one each side of the spinal column of the wearer. Lead 20 connects to the transducers, acoustic signals therefrom being transmitted by the rubber tube 17 to the ends which are respectively located adjacent the wearer's ears. Three resilient grommets (21 and 25, Fig. 3, not shown) one at each end of the rubber tube 17 and one at its centre, hold the tube 17 in place in the curtain 13. The arrangement is designed to locate the only metal parts -the transducers-at the back of the helmet, as a safety factor.
