Abstract

1,051,401. Thermoelectric devices. INSTITUT POLUPROVODNIKOV. May 6, 1964, No. 18782/64. Heading H1K. Thermal stresses in a thermoelectric device are reduced by using bridging-pieces of lead. As shown, thermoelements 1, 2 are joined to lead plates 3, 4. Copper strips 5, 6 may be brazed to plates 3, 4, respectively to reduce the resistance if the current is above 20 amps. but may be omitted for lower currents. The thermoelements may be of a bismuth-tellurium alloy and a thermopile using the invention may be used in refrigerators and thermoelectric generators.
