Abstract

1,041,326. Coaxial connectors. AMP Inc. March 16, 1965 [March 31, 1964], No. 11003/65. Heading H2E. A coaxial connector is held in a board 10 (Fig. 1, not shown) by resilient finger-like strips 40e engaging the inner surface of an aperture in the board and by resilient dimples 40k (Fig. 2, not shown), and is prevented from being pushed further into the board by outwardly projecting dimples 40d. The contact sleeve 40 may make connections with metallic portions provided on the board for shielding purposes, or alternatively, the end of the sleeve 40 adjacent the central contact pin 50 may contact a socket member. The contact sleeve 40 is electrically connected to the outer conductor of the cable 14 by crimping to a sleeve 42, which in turn is crimped to the outer conductor, a rigid support sleeve 44 being arranged inside that conductor to protect the inner insulation. The contact pin 50 is connected to the inner conductor by crimping at 50b, this contact being extended over the inner cable covering and being provided with an annular rib 50f which abuts a shoulder provided on an insulating sleeve 34, and with a dimple 50e which prevents relative rotation between the contact and the insulating sleeve. Contact between the rear end of the pin 50 and the bent over end 44a of the rigid sleeve 44 is prevented by means of a second insulating sleeve 36.
