Abstract

The skin temperature or electrical resistance measuring device, providing an audible and/or visual signal, uses a unijunction transistor as a voltage-frequency converter. This removes the necessity for any supplementary amplifier for the loudspeaker. Pref. a printed circuit supplied by two 9 volt batteries is mounted within the metal casing of the instrument via potentiometers, controlling the transistor amplification and hence the instrument sensitivity. Two measuring electrodes attached to the skin are coupled across a Wheatstone bridge supplying a voltage signal to the unijunction transistor, controlling a galvanometer. A voltage divider provides a reference voltage for compensating the DC due to operating the transistor amplifier with a single supply.
