Abstract

The automobile digital display system is designed to selectively calculate from data representing certain parameters, the instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption as a function of distance and the vehicle average speed from a reference instant. The calculator data is selectively displayed and automatically brought up to date in a periodic fashion. The system measures from a reference signal instantaneous fuel flow and by means of a counter adds a unit each time a set quantity of fuel has been consumed. The distance travelled is evaluated from the reference signal and a second counter adds a unit for each set distance travelled. Time is evaluated from the reference signal and a third counter adds a unit for each set time interval passed. The system selectively and periodically calculates a first quotient by dividing the total of the first counter by the total of the second counter. A record quotient is selectively and periodically calculated by dividing the total of the second counter by the total of the third counter. The first and second quotients are then displayed.
