Abstract

The dental implant base is made from a hard material in the shape of a cone (10). This has a pointed end and a flat top (30) and its external surface has a taper thread (20). The sides of the cone may also have one or more fluts (5, 6, 7) these preventing accidental loosening and providing a self tapping facility. The flat top has a central blind hole (40) with a tapped thread. This locates the removable insertion tool, a screwed-in rod holding a sleeve. A cap screws onto the rod and grips are provided.
