Abstract

The radio communications system has devices at its control centre to interrogate simultaneously a complete group of outstations using an interrogation code. Each outstation has detectors to recognise the interrogation code for the group, to which it belongs, and transmits its own identification code if its user wishes to talk. If no reply is received from a group, the control centre moves to another group. The numbers of outstations in the groups gradually reduces as this process continues, since they are dropped from the interrogation cycle, as they eventually answer.
