Abstract

The electroconductive textile thread consists of two components which are based on the same fibre-forming polymer but which differ in respect of their physical properties. One component is electroconductive and comprises from 2 to 1,000 polymer strands which extend in the longitudinal direction of the thread and are visible on the surface of the thread in the form of longitudinal stripes (12). The other component, which is not electroconductive, separates the electroconductive components and is visible on the surface of the thread in the form of longitudinal stripes (13). Each polymer strand belonging to the electroconductive component contains 30-70% by weight of carbon black finely dispersed therein. The electroconductive textile thread, which has a resistance of not more than 10<9> ohm/cm, can be cut and spun together with non-electroconductive staple fibres to form a yarn having a reduced electrostatic charge build-up tendency.
