Abstract

The urinal probe is permanently fitted into the urethral tract of a patient. It comprises a tube with a rounded end, pierced for the evacuation of fluids. Near this end is a ring inflated after insertion of the probe in order to retain it in the patient's bladder. This inflation is effected by a valve and inlet passage in the walls of the probe. A similarly inflatable sleeve is also fitted around the fore-part of the tube. This seals the urethral tract against ingress of infection and is also inflated by a valve and inlet passage in the tube walls.
