Abstract

An artificial foot comprises three sections of rigid expanded plastic section, an essentially cylindrical section forming the heel and ankle; an intermediate section forming the instep and a toe section. A layer of elastically deformable material is provided between the sections to allow relative movement between the sections and a sole of semi-rigid high resistance material is attached by adhesive across the bottom of the foot. The artificial foot is simple to make and cheap to produce. Pref. the sections are so shaped that the gaps between them (which are filled by the layer of elastically deformable material are V-shaped, and springs may be embedded in the elastically deformable material. A heel may be attached via a layer of elastically deformable material to the sole to balance the foot.
