Abstract

The container (1) has its top and sides (2) thermoformed from plastic sheet, in one piece and with sides (2a) tapering slightly upwards. The top has a flat rim and an annular well with its central portion (4) raised for the straw (5). Its lower part flares outwards (4b) to aid insertion and its top face (4a) has detachable straw insertion area surrounded by a weakened area. A flange (2c) at the bottom forms a location for the base (3) which has a convex exterior profile and a flat central area to retain the straw. To open the container the base is moved through an over centre position to a concave form to force the straw through the top straw insertion area.
